About B. Sc (Ed) Agricultural Education

Admission Requirements:

(1)Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate in Education (GCE) ordinary level, with passes at credit level in at least five subjects, including English Language and mathematics, obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.

(2)The Teachers II Certificate with credit/Merit in at least five subjects, including English Language and mathematics, obtained at not more than two sittings.

(3)Candidates with Diplomas (ABU), Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or equivalent qualifications approved by the University are admitted into 200 level of course this is in addition to the requirements stated in (a) and (b) above.

Objectives of the Programme:

1.Produce effective teachers of subjects in agriculture and education for varying levels of educations in Nigerian institutions who shall be able to:

    i) Implement effective teaching of subjects in agriculture
    ii) Develop, supervise and administer agricultural education programmes.
    iii) Participate in the development of syllabus of agricultural education.
    iv) Develop effective instructional resource materials used in schools/colleges.

2.Develop effective skills and create awareness of changing needs and trends affecting agricultural programmes in the country.

3.Develop effective instructional resource materials useful in schools, colleges etc.

4.Develop effective skills and create awareness resources, needs and trends affecting agricultural educational programme in the country.

Philosophy of the Programme:

The philosophy of the programme is to effectively participate and contribute to nation Building by providing and supplying the work urgent needed qualified and competent manpower for promoting and enriching various agricultural development programmes in education and related fields.

Emphasis is given to the improvement of the standard and quality of trained teachers, through attempts to assist in developing a creative approach to the understanding of highly motivated and efficient, trained teachers of agriculture for all levels of education systems.
